The Tour's Route: Through Life and History in 2.5 Hours
Act I: From World Politics to the Shadows of History
We start at Pariser Platz, directly at the Brandenburg Gate, the symbol of unity. We will take you past the Reichstag and the „washing machine“ of the Chancellery to the Soviet War Memorial. We briefly delve into the Tiergarten, pass the Goethe Monument and the Homosexual Memorial, before reaching the wave-like artwork of the Holocaust Memorial. A stop that invites reflection and understanding.
Act II: Bunker, Wall & Music History
From the former site of the Reich Chancellery and the Führerbunker, we move on to Potsdamer Platz. Here, the history of the Wall becomes tangible: we look at original pieces of the Wall, the futuristic Sony Center, and the first electric traffic light in Europe. A short detour to the legendary Hansa Studios (Bowie, Depeche Mode, U2) leads us on to the Martin-Gropius-Bau and the Topography of Terror.
Act III: Escape Story & Chocolate Delight
After the impressive site of a wall escape, we come to Checkpoint Charlie, the scene of the tank confrontation, and then leave the path of the Cold War. We glide through the exclusive architecture of Friedrichstrasse directly towards the famous chocolate house on Gendarmenmarkt. An experience for all the senses awaits you here: marvel at 500kg chocolate landmarks and enjoy a small, exclusive house speciality, which we have in store for you as a thank you. Breathe in the luxurious atmosphere before we head to Gendarmenmarkt – one of the most beautiful squares in Europe – for a photo stop.
Act IV: Prussia's Splendour & Museum Island
Passing Bebelplatz (site of the book burning) and the State Opera, we reach Humboldt University and then the Neue Wache. We cross Museum Island (Bode Museum, Old National Gallery, Pergamon Museum, Berlin Cathedral), noting bullet holes from the Second World War, and stop at the fountain in the Lustgarten, with a direct view of the reconstructed City Palace and the Old Museum. From here, the Red Town Hall and the TV Tower greet us.
Act V: Subculture, Dance & the „Real“ Berlin
The finale belongs to the Berlin way of life. We’ll lead you to the Hackesche Höfe to one of the most impressive, hidden graffiti courtyards – a melting pot of street art and East Berlin history, as well as that of National Socialism. Through the vibrant Monbijou Park we'll reach a special highlight, the legendary riverside dance stage opposite Museum Island. Depending on the time of day, we capture the lively flair of the ‚Dance by the Water‘ here, or enjoy the almost magical silence of this place with its unique view across the Spree, over Museum Island and towards Brecht's Theatre. We then set off for the New Synagogue and travel to the legendary Tacheles. Via the magnificent boulevard Unter den Linden, past the embassies and the Hotel Adlon, we return to the Brandenburg Gate.
What makes this tour so special
The exclusive refinement We don't just trot out the well-trodden sights. We celebrate contrast. We take time for the chocolate break, the quiet courtyard stop and the unique view from the Spree bridge at the Bode Museum – a perspective that almost no other Berlin bike tour will grant you.
