The Tour Route: In 1 Hour Through Berlin
Hotspot I: Where History Was Made We start at Pariser Platz, directly at the Brandenburg Gate, the symbol of unity. We briefly dive into the Tiergarten, pass the Goethe monument and the Homosexual Memorial, before reaching the wave-like artwork of the Holocaust Memorial. A stop that invites you to pause and reflect.
Hotspot II: Wall history within reach
From the former site of the Reich Chancellery and the Führerbunker, we proceed to Potsdamer Platz. Here, the history of the Wall becomes tangible: we'll view original Wall segments, the futuristic Sony Center, and Europe's first electric traffic light. Passing the legendary Hansa Studios (Bowie, Depeche Mode, U2), we continue to the Martin-Gropius-Bau and the Topography of Terror. Further on, you'll experience the transformation from the former death strip to a vibrant centre. We will stop directly at the original Wall sections. You are right in the thick of it: touch history before we soak up the spirit of Checkpoint Charlie. An active experience, noticeably supported by our electric motor.
Hotspot III: Prussia's Splendour & The Museum Island We leave behind Checkpoint Charlie and the former tank confrontation, leaving the paths of the Cold War. Our route leads us directly to the Gendarmenmarkt, past the famous chocolate house, one of the most beautiful spots in Europe.
About the Bebelplatz (Site of the book burning) and the State Opera House, we make our way to Humboldt University and the Neue Wache. We cross the Museum Island with Berlin Cathedral and the world-famous museums, where we can perceive the traces of history in the form of bullet holes from the Second World War. A short stop at the fountain in the Pleasure Garden offers us the perfect panoramic view of the resurrected City Palace, the Old Museum, the Rote Rathaus and the TV tower. Over the magnificent boulevard Under the Linden Trees, past the Royal Guard, the embassies and the legendary Hotel Adlon, we finally return to the starting point at the Brandenburg Gate.
